This is one of the oldest trains in the South Eastern railway route. Earlier it was Tata Madras Exp and after many representations from various organisations got extended till Alleppey. Any idea when was its inaugral run? since I am told that the purpose of the train was to connect the steel cities of bokaro, rourkela and jamshedpur to Chennai (Madras earlier)
tata - madras -> bokaro - madras -> bokaro - allepey -> dhanbad - allepey..
Though it serves a large amount of people and one of the trains originating from Tata with good revenue generation yet after all these years quite sad that SER has not been able to push for a case for it to be made a separate train with more coaches
same is the case with TATA - JAT / HATIA - JAT train...both are veteran trains of Ranchi division...
