pretty odd timings. atleast while going to CAPE.

nope. the timings seem fine. connects two very important tourist places in south india for the weekend. 3 15am arrival is nt that bad. if the train gets an hr late, its all fine. if nt, one can wait for an hr and then go to enjoy the beautiful sunrise at cape. had i been at pu, wd hv taken this train over the weekend...
usually most trains reach their destinations before time or on time because of buffer. it might be late at NCJ but will reach CAPE on time.
the only positive here like you said is that you can catch the sunrise at CAPE. but imo, this train will be more helpful if it leaves about 3 hours later. 1430 from PDY and reaches CAPE at 6 am. these timings will also be better for inbetween important stations like TPJ.
anyway, lets see the patronage. that will be the true justifying factor
