Does anyone know as to what is the logic of deciding station codes?....It always intrigues me when certain station codes have alphabets which are not present in the name? I am sure there are some rail experts in this forum who could shed some light. Just to give some example : New delhi (NDLS), Bangalore (SBC), Bhubaneshwar (BBS), Kanpur (CNB)

Station Codes do not follow any standard guidelines. we have Bidhannagar Road Station in Kolkata whose code is BNXR and no 'X' in the name.
