P DAS 38 blog postsWhat is the likelihood of fog problems and 12259 getting unusually delayed due to that en-route to NDLS during the 2nd week of November this year? Also if I am to catch 12191 from NDLS (which departs at 14:05) by reaching NDLS on the same day from Kolkata by 12259, what is my chance of getting the train?

Why is this train 12259 getting delayed so much (even by 3 hrs) on way to NDLS in sharp contrast with its Duronto/ Rajdhani counterparts (12273/12313/12301)?
It does not get delayed to the extent we say !! Yes it does get delayed at times.. If you see its Arrival history @ NDLS it arrives before time more number of times than being late. And we cannot compare any train with likes of 12313/12301... these 2 trains along with 12951 are among the most premiur trains of the country without doubt
Now a days the problems due to fog strats by enf of November or may be on the onset of December, so Nov first or second week shall be perfectly fine...Hmm..as far as catching the return train is considered, I guess a buffer of 2 and half hour would be just ok....but I would suggest you not to take that risk as on such a long journey you never know what may happen and 12259 may reach late for some unforeseen reason, and you may miss your return train...
Yesterday (13.09.13) 12259 arrived at NDLS with a delay of abt 4 hrs. Last Monday 9.9.13 too it had arrived NDLS with a delay of more than 3 hrs. In the month of August 2013 this train reached NDLS with a delay of 3+ hrs on no less than 2-3 occasions as per the records showing in this website (indiarailinfo.com) if u check the Arr. /Dep. history.
