If I cancel a confirmed tkt by any train/class/date , after what interval of time does it get reflected in the availability status, assuming no bookings in the interim period .

Instantly...Same can be observed even in case of booking when i booked one ticket for 1 passenger at WL 6 and post that saw the avbl status at WL 7..So,same will be in case of cancellations going by your assumptions.
