Lovely bird's eye view of my own Chennai. In trying to further elucidate the pic and helping with landmarks.
1. To the left of MMC PRS Complex is Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, which currently holds all athletic events. By the way, the JN Stadium used to be known as Corporation stadium, the original stadium where cricket matches were played before the current MAC Chepauk Stadium, the CSK Den, which can be seen in the foreground.
2. The MMC PRS-cum-Suburban Railway Station juxtaposed with MAS.
3.
...
To the right of MAS is SR building.
4. Opposite MAS is Madras Medical College and General Hospital.
5. The Cooum River bisecting the pic.
6. The island thus created is known as the Island Grounds where the famous Industrial Fair is conducted every year during Pongal times.
7. Foreground far-right is the tip of Napier Bridge (colloquially Iron Bridge).
8. Just to the left of Napier and to the right of MAC Stadium is the British-built sprawling campus of University of Madras Campus and the stately Presidency College.
9. The tower seen is the Chennai Doordarshan TV Center.
10. The elevated railway line running like a snake close to the MAC Stadium is the MRTS Thiruvanmiyur-Chennai Beach line and the elevated stations seen are Chepauk and Triplicane (partly visible).
11. In between the two stations, underlies the famous Marina Cricket Ground facing the beach, where lots of First Class Cricket Matches are held (read League Cricket/Division).
12. The arterial road that runs along is called the Kamaraj Salai which houses the Beach Station to the north, Chennai Harbour, Burma Bazaar, all bank regional HQs, RBI, Fort St. George/TN Secretariat, War Memorial (akin to New Delhi's India Gate though not so grand), Southern Command HQ of military, Univ of Madras, DD, Marina Promenade, State Police HQ, Akshvani Bhavan to name a few.
14. The extreme right is world's second longest Marina Beach sand dunes.
15. The swimming pool is the Marina swimming pool, which has played a great role in the summer in cooling the bodies of Chennaiites.
***
Hope I have covered everything that is visible on the pic. Please add the missed ones, if any.
