Good news for those awaiting the completion of pending Mass Rapid Transit Projects connecting Velachery and St Thomas Mount.
Southern Railway, which is blamed for the inordinate delay in completing the MRTS stretch, is planning to hand over the pending project to the CMRL for early completion. The railway authorities are eagerly awaiting Madras high court to pass orders related to pending litigations.

half a dozen litigations are pending before the court, obstructing land acquisition and the project” said a senior Southern Railway official.
People who are on the verge of losing their pattas have filed litigations and once the court clears the cases, the project will just take 18 months for completion.
The railway may even consider handing over the project to CMRL and already the railways has vested the project of completing the three-tier St Thomas mount railway station to CMRL and a fund of Rs 50 crore has been allocated for the purpose.
