locals call the deity with the name "Katama Rayudu" as well. Very popular among all the Narasimha Swamy devotees and particularly in AP rayalaseema and karnataka rayalaseema regions.
2. Thimmamma marrimanu (Pic 2 & 3) (Thimmamma Banyan Tree) Thimmamma Marrimanu, a Guinness World Record Holder, is the name of a Banyan tree in Anantapur district, located about 25 km from town Kadiri in the state of Andhra Pradesh, India. Connected by APSRTC run passenger bus services. You can inquire at the APSRTC bus stand which 1 km from the Railway station. It is present in the Indian Botanical Gardens and is more than 650 years old. It is reported to be the world's biggest tree with a canopy of 19,107 square metres as per the Gunness Book of World records 1989. Its branches spreads over 2.5 acres, and hence was recorded as the biggest tree in the Guinness Book of World Records in 1989.
3. Yogi Vemana Samadhi (Pic 4)
Famous for the Yogi Vemana Samadhi, Kattarupally attracts a lot of pilgrims. Situated 25 kms. You can take APSRTC run passenger buses from the Bus stand. From Kadiri enroute Thimmamma Marrimanu, the journey offers spectacular views of rock formations of various shapes. Yogi Vemana is widely known as peoples' poet. His simple and colloquial Telugu poems, which narrates truths of day to day life and social evils, are very popular among the literates and illiterate ruralites.
