On a cold and fog engulfed morning in the small wayside station named Khera Kalan on NR's Delhi- Panipat stretch, GZB WAP- 5 comes honking, and tears past at over 100 km/hr through the curve with the 12029 New Delhi (NDLS)- Amritsar (ASR) SWARNA SHATABDI Express. effort of RDSO/ RCF. These rakes were just rolled out by RCF to gear themselves up for the LHB coaches production. Infact lots of features of LHB coaches were incorporated including the bogie design in these rakes. The rake has a speed certificate of 110KMPH on Branch routes and 125KMPH on Trunk routes. And moreover these rakes never failed any speed test conducted by RDSO. The production of these coaches were put on hold following the introduction of new high speed lightweight coaches from LHB Alstom.
The train follows the New Delhi- Kurukshetra- Ambala Cantt.- Ludhiana- Phagwara- Jalandhar City- Beas- Amritsar route.
