I want to know what is the meaning of "excess fare ticket" in the following rule. Is it that one will have to pay penalty of Rs. 50/- and the ticket will be issued in lieu of that if original identify proof is produced?
"If the passenger fail to produce/display ERS/VRM due to any eventuality (loss, damaged mobile/laptop etc.) but has the prescribed original proof of identity, a penalty of Rs.50/- per ticket as applicable to such cases will be levied. The ticket checking staff On board/ Off board will give Excess Fare Ticket for the same."

u can show the SMS bearing PNR , DOJ & TOJ , Train No , Passenger name , Class (u might have received during booking from IRCTC) . else type these details in ur draft and show it ( NO TTE will check it whether it s from irctc or from anyone ) - sometimes i will say my mob s switched off and he will verify the ID card and name in the chart and he moves out....i have an old sms from irctc , and will replace the PNR,DOJ/TOJ,Coach/Seat , etc and show to TTE ...
