if this section gets electrified then only those trains which go upto NJP or guwahati will only get electric loco;in that case Uttarbanga,kanchankanya,teesta-torsha,kanchenjungha,haldibari will run with WDPs
as far as attaining max.speed is concerned WDPs are at par with any other electric locos.....the worrying part is to increase and maintain average speed up to 100kmph;attaining max speeds of 130kmph in RAMPURHAT-MALDA TOWN SECTION to be very precise....needs upgradation of tracks and concretisation at certain places(soil is very porous)........
I think after electrification of Howrah/Sealdh - New Jalpaiguri route all train be it passenger or goods will get a electric loco up to New Jalpaiguri. Well as for the Railway Electrification work is going on in this section it will take another 2-3 years.
Loco change can be done at New Jalpaiguri for the above mentioned trains by you. I do not think for 560 KM a train will get Diesel Locomotive where Electrification is available.

Very true.....can u update about if any track strengthening is done in RAMPURHAT-MALD TOWN SECTION............thats the critical part
