i have one que which train is considered as an up train or down train ? whether its depend on last digit of train ? 12973/12974 here first train last number start with 3 and last train have 4 digit ? so which train is down or up ?
AFAIK, the train which runs towards its primary maintainance depot(PMD), is called a down train and the train which departs from its PMD, is called an up train.
There are a lot of exceptions that we see here. Infact i would also believe the same concept. However, in SR atleast i have seen a lot of changes. For e.g 12657 , 16315 , etc etc..
Even number in the last digit indicates that it goes to its home maintenance station. So here,12974 indicates that it is up train & 12973 indicates that its "dw" train.
