By the way, there are some Superfast Mails as well. Ex: Kalka mail, Golden temple Mail, Howarh-Mumbai Mail, Gujarath Mail, Punjab Mail...
Superfast trains have preference over Mail/Express trains on the IR network. Which means Superfast would get clearance on priority over Mail/Express trains. Hence Superfasts usually overtake mail/express trains if needed.
For this, there as additional superfast surcharge collected from each & every passenger.

some mails are also superfast trains getting priority over others(Bangalore mail over chalukya on sbc-kpd strech)- so even mails which are superfasts are superfasts without any difference- only mails which are in non-superfast cateogory get lesser preference than Superfasts (Eg: Toofan mail)
Agree Siddharth. Infact this was my first explanation. /blog/post/944471/3
So...It means....whatever new trains are going to announced in coming days within IR, they might not be their name appended with "MAIL" at all.... only Passenger,Exp, SF, RJD etc.....
