I sometimes wonder that 12641/42 (which is such a nice SF train ) doesn't run with WAP-4,7 but with WAM or WAP-1...
How IR never came with a thought to provide some upper class WAP for this train?

WAP 5 exist in india for more than 10 years i guess. if high failure rates means it can be reduced by devloping na
No matter what link the trains gets, be it WAM-4 or WAP-7, speed depends on the track, coaches and signalling.. Train would even be punctual with a WAG series loco.
Only two sheds hold WAP-5's.
its a light weight locomotive with advanced technology.
it needs a proper training to handle this locomotive.
the training period afaik, is around 30-60 days. both, for crew and the shed crew too.

Sir, these days in North India, mostly Rajdhani loco failure is seen, means both WDP and WAP fail to haul.. Rarely heard when a WDM-2/3 series loco fails..
Anything depends on maintenance, proper checks, shed crew's constant observation, and finally updates from the Pilots.
