Anil Kumar Garg 24032 blog postsIn India it is customary for Loco Pilots (the driver / engineer) to give a green flagged signal to all passing trains. Here the Loco Pilot of the pair of ALCOs on the late running Manmad to Secunderabad Ajanta Express gives the signal to a passing local DMU which has been let out of Malkajgiri station in front of the express.

It is also a clearance for the driver to say that the track is clear till the next station. Inside that ring a key is attached. That key is to be handed over to the next station. If the track is clear then only the metal key will be pulled out from the interlocking machine. It is a safety measure.
