2S in plain terms is non reserved sitting... however in some short distance trains some of 2S is reserved coach, which will be denoted by D1,D2...
however 2S means "second class sitting"

Second Class means non reserved general compartment though it is not an official term. Second Sitting is a reserved compartment like Sl.
