Both lower and upper berths on AC-2 Tier coaches have an excellent LED reading light (similar to that found in aircraft) - see photo. This makes it great for nighttime reading without disturbing others. It's a vast improvement over the 'shutter' lamps found on the non-LHB coaches which function better as room heaters!
The LHB coaches also seem to be a little more square in lateral cross section permitting more room on the upper berth as the photo shows.

same is present in hwh Rajdhani 2A also. I feel LHB coaches have them for all trains in 2A
Yeah all the LHB 1A and 2A have such nice light.. ICF coaches have yellow light.
These Improved lightning systems are available in LHB Coaches only because the normal ICF coaches are still using the shutter light systems. A good move by Indian Railways.
LED's emit less heat than normal sodium vapor lamps and its not a fault with IR or shutter lamps.
