Two questions
1. Can a passenger get down at any intermediate station of a train route if he has booked till the terminating station?
2. If one can get down at an intermediate station can he/she board a local train to travel further and get down before the terminating station of the train as he/she already has express reservation ticket?

But in my case its about Rs.1219 and I filed the TDR within one hour of the departure from the boarding station. So, in this case their 'Ruling' can't be accepted at any cost!

@Anand Nambyar Exactly... I accede to you.. I was also thinking about this.. What does take so long for the Railway to reimburse the TDR amount? I just posted the matter here to know what the experts says before doing anything with help of jurisdiction!

I have one e-ticket from KGP to MAS on 12.09.12 in 3AC with confirm status. But due to some urgent reasons I'll be in kolkata that day. So I want to board the train at HWH. How is it legally possible to get the ticket modified by any means to board from HWH instead of KGP? Experts plz help.

Which type of ticket I should buy? any local ticket/ SF ticket? 3ac ticket/ something else?
And if I dnt buy any extra ticket for going to KGP from HWH and ask the TTE to adjust the rest amount by directly paying him in return of challan--- will it be valid? Or I'll find me being considered as a ticketless traveler from HWH to KGP?
And one thing.. when I'm searching for availability in 3ac that day from HWH to KGP I'm getting no seat empty. Then won't my berth remain vacant from HWH to KGP?

FOLLOWING IS A MAIL I SENT TO INDIAN RAILWAY AUTHORITY. PLZ HAVE A LOOK AT THIS AND POST YOUR OPINION...
Sir/ Madam,
After the promulgation of the circular of 'Travelling with electronic tickets in elctronic media like Laptop/Ipad' and recently of 'Travelling with SMS received from IRCTC after ticket booking' (of course with a valid ID card) I always used to travel by these means. As a member of common-mass and railway traveler and as a techno-freak I embraced these rules as most welcome.

My prblem lies elsewhere.. Booking tickes nearly 120 days before the day of journy I could hardly trace the sms often. And that happened before the sms rules was brought to action. What will happen if anyone doesn't have sms but a pdf of the ERS?

Then opening the laptop is mandatory I think in that situation. If I dnt hv a ipad or good mobile capable to read pdf.

ok.. for you take 90 days.. I'm not going with that debate of booking..Simply I didn't have the sms or sms was not valid then.. But had the pdf in my laptop.. So in that rush hour, should I open my laptop or be kept stalled by the TTE?

Thnx to all who participated in this and helped me a lot. To end I'd like to mention a few points. here they go.
1. @ The person as 'Guest' who answered the longest:- All your opinions have a legitimate points. Not going with comparison to air travel, at least to me, carrying a printed ticket or hard-copy is the 'most chosen' and 'most easy' to do still now. But u should note railway is not offering the electronic mode as convenience for passengers (May be it's implication may taken otherwise if that suits one). So avoiding any such decisive complexity, in general, it's often difficult to carry a gadget like laptop/iPad/smart phone than to carry a printed ticket. It's a...
