I live in Bellandur. I need to travel to Yeswanthpur Stn on Fri eve to catch a train departing YPR at 8.50 pm.
Am hesitant about cab, rickshaw, etc, considering traffic uncertainties.
Am considering taking the DEMU train# 76524 from BLRR to YPR. Anyone traveled by this? It halts at BLRR (Belandur Rd)? Is it unpleasantly jam packed, or can one travel relatively comfortably in it?

guess we need to buy the ticket at the stn? (unreserved) Is the queue for booking long at Bellandur Rd stn?
And does it come at its scheduled 6.30 pm? Or is it delayed a lot?
Would appreciate an opinion from someone, esp if they've traveled on it before.
Thanks,
Venkat

In which year were 4 tracks laid bween Mumbai VT/CST and Thane?
Did it begin as 2 tracks and converted later to 4 tracks? By the British? Or after independence? When?

Will be traveling in Rajdhani for the first time, in a few months from now.
Is the 2nd AC coach interiors in Bangalore Rajdhani Exp any different from a normal train's 2nd AC coach interior?
Also, are all meals served free? (ie. included in ticket price)

Thanks.
What is SLB?
Also, are the 2nd AC Rajdhani windows as heavily tinted as in normal trains? I sure hope not! They severely limit outside viewing ability.

Hi,
We are traveling from Bangalore to Chennai by evening Shatabdi on June 2nd. 2014 (Train# 12008). We are a group of 6 (myself, wife, 2 kids and 2 elderly parents).
When we had booked, we got 4 tickets confirmed and 2 waitlisted. But the 4 confirmed tickets were far apart and spanning multiple coaches, viz. C7/2, C7/78, C4/67 and C6/26 (in "coach/seat" format). This would be unmanageable (parents cant be left alone, kids cant be left alone), so I immediately booked one more ticket on same train knowing that all 6 seats

on it waitlisted, but with the hope that there is a chance that they’d be confirmed in a chunk (at least same coach), and I can then cancel one of the tickets. I was hoping that the bulk-reallocation-upon-cancellation algorithm would work that way.
Today when I checked, all the waitlisted 8 seats are confirmed (2 remaining from first ticket, and all 6 from 2nd ticket), but the seat#s aren’t yet stated.
I’d like to retain the one that has a high chance of seats being in the same coach (or atmost spread over 2 coaches), and cancel the other one. By that reasoning, would I be right in canceling the former ticket (that had C7/2, C7/78, etc)? Should I cancel right now, or should I wait till chart preparation (I run the risk of losing a lot of money; I dont mind losing it if its worth it; but the way I see it, the ticket with C7, C4, C6 is bad enough, its hard to get worse than that, so might as well cancel that one now itself rather than waiting and losing money and getting an equally bad seat allocation)
Any advice?
Thanks,
Venkat

Thanks for your helpful tips. I did as suggested. The 2nd booked ticket's chart has been prepared and as expected, all 6 seats are in the same coach!

Interoperability of outstation train tickets in Mumbai local/suburban trains:
I have a AC 2nd Class ticket on Udyan Exp from Bangalore to Dadar. I actually need to go to Thane but Udyan doesnt halt at Thane. I plan to get down at Kalyan and take an onward local from Kalyan to Thane. Is my Udyan 2nd AC ticket valid in Mumbai local 1st class if its on the same travel segment?
Where can I find the rules of such ticket interoperability?
