imo, first ac is risky as quotas are more in that as a %age.
Check 2nd ac.
(but i don't have data about this train, just a general logic)

IMO, you have rightly said.
If you see, what you said, the +ves are provided because of -ves. That is good service is provided because charges are raised. Then why private has to do that, governments can also do that.
Remember, those additional charges shall also include small to big (depends of company ethics) profit for them.

Oops, If I am right, private companies invest money of not their own but from loan. Mostly from state banks (SBI, IB etc). which is more or less government fund which in turns comes from WB, IMF etc and tax money.
If FDI route is used, then you will have whole lot of philosophical issues similar to "FDI in Retail"

In Mumbai suburban tickets counter, minimum of two ATVMs (Automated Tocket Vending Machines) are installed. Nowadays, while one is for public, other is used by an agent who punches out tickets to public for the same price. There is some discount in recharging so he get that as profit. He punches out tickets so fast at times twice faster than window person (also due to computer + printer combo whereas ATVMs are touch)
He sits only during peak hours so get the maximum out.
That's a nice way of privatization rather than loaning

While I don't want to comment on this model or that model, "privatization" is not a "Harry Potter with magic wand". Realizing that is a good starting point for both public and governments :-)

Have you traveled in govt run Volvo bus in Karnataka called "Airavat"? If so, you will never board another private run bus.
Governments are not issue, "Governance" is.

Bus..Thats all you have folks for such a wonderful topic :-(
Basically "Absolute power corrupts absolutely" and the over-stretched "check and balance mechanism" in India are root for any such activities. There is no relation whether it is government or private.
IMO, privatization WILL come to railways coz even the basic rights like health and education are already privatized resulting in lower strata unable to get their rights. And this will tear down the railways.

Konkan Railway : ERS WDM3A Mangalore Madgaon Intercity through Green Udupi
The newly introduced Intercity SF comes out of the green bush and chugs away towards Barkur with a stunning looking Alco. This was captured on saturday and the train seems to be 70% filled, which is a very good sign.

Arrival history is very poor ranging from 30 min to 2 hrs delay. If it reaches on time, this will make 18404 chain train so popular for mangalore to mumbai via Dadar Janshatbdi

I booked this from PNVL to SRR for 31st May on opening day via IRCTC and the booking was butter smooth. Checked the availability in the same evening which showed AVL for 3rd AC. May be it is because of holiday season ending. Anyone tried while peak days?
