I think passengers who haven't traveled on long-distance trains before should check which train they're boarding. Multiple trains can have the same origin and destination. Announcements at every station should be clear, and passengers should be alert and aware of their train and its schedule. I saw this happen returning from SMVT Bengaluru to Howrah on the Duronto Express. A passenger boarded our Duronto Express from Bhubaneswar, thinking it was his S3 train. It arrived just 30 minutes before the Puri-Sealdah Duronto, causing the passenger to board the wrong train. He didn't listen to announcements or check the train's signage. He randomly boarded, hearing "Duronto" announced. The train left Bhubaneswar; we and other passengers checked his ticket. There were no stops between Bhubaneswar and Howrah for him to board the correct Duronto (the Puri-Sealdah Duronto only stops at KGP). He had to travel on our SMVB-HWH train. We told him to watch for unscheduled stops at JJKR/BHC/CTC to deboard and catch another train, as ticket checkers impose large fines on unauthorized passengers. He quietly moved to another coach. I don't know if he detrained at JJKR during an unscheduled stop or contacted a ticket checker, but I'm sure the ticket checkers would have fined him heavily. Only 2-3 ticket checkers were on the Duronto the entire journey from SMVB to HWH, constantly checking tickets.

mujhe lagta hai ki jo yatri lambi duri ki train mein pehle kabhi safar nahin kiye hon, unhe train mein charhne se pehle thoda check kar lena chahiye ki yeh kaun si train hai. ek hi starting aur ending point wali kai trains ho sakti hain. toh har station par announcements saaf hone chahiye aur yatriyon ko apni train aur uske samay ke bare mein alert aur warn kiya jana chahiye. maine yeh jaisa hi ek scene dekha tha jab main SMVT Bengaluru se Howrah Duronto Express se laut raha tha, ek yatri Bhubaneswar se hamari Duronto Express mein charh gaya aur apna S3 seat dhund raha tha, soch raha tha ki yeh sahi Duronto hai jismein woh charha hai. asliyat mein uske seat number mein S3 52 likha tha jo hamari seat thi, matlab mere papa baith rahe the. toh maine usse apna ticket dikhane ko kaha, toh maine dekha ki uska ticket Puri-Sealdah Duronto ka hai, Bhubaneswar se Sealdah ke liye aur seat number S3 52 hai. asliyat mein hamara SMVB-HWH Duronto express 40 ghante late tha SMVB par late pahunchne ki wajah se (kyonki yeh VZM-TIG-R-G-NGP-BPQ-BZA section se divert kiya gaya tha 2023 October mein Vizianagaram Rail accident ki wajah se), aur yeh Puri-Sealdah Duronto ke time par sirf 30 minute pehle laut raha tha, isliye yatri hamari train se match kar gaye aur hamari train mein charh gaye. usne announcements nahin suni aur train ke boards bhi nahin dekhe, sirf Duronto sun kar aur kisi ko bula kar randomly train mein charh gaya. badkismathi se train BBS se chali gayi aur uske baad hum aur hamare saath ke passengers ne uske ticket ki check kiya aur phir humein baat samajh aayi, lekin train mein BBS aur HWH ke beech koi stoppage nahin tha jahan woh us Duronto mein charh sakta, puri-sdah Duronto ka bhi BBS ke baad koi stoppage nahin tha, yeh KGP par rukti hai, toh use sirf issi train SMVB se HWH tak safar karna pada. toh humne use kaha ki agar train JJKR/BHC/CTC par unscheduled halt de toh utar jaaye aur dusri train le le kyunki TTs unauthenticated passengers se bahut bada fine maang rahe the. toh dekhne ke baad woh chup chap dusre coach mein chala gaya, usne koi reaction nahin diya aur uske baad mujhe nahin pata, shayad JJKR par utar gaya jab train ne JJKR par unscheduled halt di ya phir TT se contact kar liya hoga, lekin mujhe pakka hai ki TT bahut bada fine maangega kyunki maine dekha hai ki sirf 2-3 TTs hi is Duronto mein the jo continuously check kar rahe the ya puri train mein SMVB se HWH tak ghoom rahe the.
