MoS Finance Dr. Bhagwat Karad mentioned that instead of building the entire Pune to Aurangabad line, IR realized that only the Aurangabad to Ahmednagar line makes more sense in terms of money and benefits. The Daund to Manmad doubling project is currently underway and the bypass at Daund is already operational. If the railway wants to build a new A'nagar Pune line, the cost of acquiring land would make the project uneconomical, plus it wouldn't even be possible to connect directly to Pune Junction. Also, IR is looking to capitalize on the existing route for freight traffic. So, only the new Aurangabad to Ahmednagar line will get the green light. 👍🙂
