IISc had recently done trail of solar panel in one coach in association with ICF, RDSO to use their Knowledge Base to firm up specification.

IR has now decided to provide solar panels in two daytime intercity trains on non AC coaches in NR & SR Railway. Trial will be done for all weather.

The first train arrived in Delhi via Ghaziabad on 1 st August 1864 laying the foundation of Delhi Division. The division grew in size and in terms of work load during the last 150 yrs. Today, it occupies a unique position amongst all the divisions of IR. It is indeed the front runner with 3000 track Kms, handling 1 million passengers a day, running 1000 trains a day, earning 8000 crores per annum. To commemorate 150 years of Delhi Division's dedicated service to the nation, year long celebrations have commenced with the release of the special cover by Department of Post on 7th May 2015.

The #NepalEarthquake till date Indian Railways has put in great efforts to ensure that adequate relief is provided to the evacuees. 52 extra coaches have been attached; 3 special trains run, more than 5500 people helped in reaching their destinations; facilitation booth at points of entry stations from Nepal; special reservation counter at International airport, New Delhi; zero value tickets given for travel for those who needed them and most importantly more than 2 lakh Rail Neer water bottles have been sent.
