On September 16th, an attempt to derail the Swatantrata Senani Express in Ghazipur was thwarted by the timely discovery of a wooden log placed on the track. On Wednesday night, an attempt to derail the Doon Express in Rampur by placing an iron pole on the track was thwarted. The NIA is investigating these incidents, and authorities have heightened security measures and vigilance. Additionally, a coal-laden goods train derailed in Mathura on Wednesday night, causing disruption on the Delhi route and leading to the diversion and cancellation of several trains. The derailment could have been catastrophic, as the Mewar Express was on the adjacent track and would have been involved in the crash if the goods train had derailed 10 minutes later. The cause of the goods train derailment is still unknown.
