Trial run between MAS and JTJ - 221 KMS. The Trail engine with SR GM Rakesh Mishra covered 221 KMS in 2 Hours with top speed at 140 KMPH. sir , once if 130 kmph is cleared , many trains ll get , Brindavan , Lalbagh / MAS ICE. Poorva, Sampoorna Kranti , Purushottam etc., got LHB citing the MPS as 130 . So we can expect the same . This was the explanation given by a railway officer that SR and SWR will get many LHB once MAS-SBC stretch is 130 Kmph

MYS bound 12007 Shatabdi express leaving MAS. Short Introduction : This is one of the most successful Shatabdi express in India. Almost running for 19 years with the same Timetable. This is one of the few Shatabdi express which has a traction change. This Shatabdi has been provided with various electric loco in MAS-SBC stretch like WAM-4, WAP-1, WAP-7, WAP-4. Occasionally with rare offlinks like WAG 5/7 . In SBC-MYS it has got KJM WDM 2, WDM 3A, WDG 3A ( before the advent of EMD's) . Once when EMD's were introduced it got the links changed to KJM/ UBL WDP 4/4B and sometimes with WDG 4 too. Right from its inception it had non stop run between MAS-SBC and SBC-MYS... more...
with the same Timetable. This is the oldest Shatabdi in the south. There were rumors that this may be curtailed with SBC itself but thank god it did not happen. This is one of the prestigious train for MAS as well as MYS. It's cleanliness and speed never fails to impress you. The first Shatabdi express travel happened to me in this train in the year 1995 from SBC-MYS when I was 4 years old. Right from that , I was a die hard fan of this superstar. It got LHB in 2008. First train in South to receive LHB. Literally love this train to the core. In this pic it is hauled by ED WAP 4 22901.
This was introduced by the then Railway Minister Mr. CKJ. From the date of Intro this train ran with 1 EC and 7 CC without addition of extra coaches to this train..even after with LHB. Now only SR has given 1 extra EC and 3 extra CC to this train for a short period
Probably because of loco availability issues. Anyway, this is such a short rake and the section is also not a high speed section, any diesel loco should be able to do the job easily.
Yes that i know. For this section even WDM2 can also do it as WDM2 previously used to haul it. Point is passenger locos are mostly given for the prestigious trains of any section
Yeah of late WDP series was common and this is a sort of offlink or some last minute adjustment i feel...Anyway, as you said for the priority it gets, even WDM2 can easily manage :)
