That is the primary purpose of the train. E2E people first preference already shifted to Ananthapuri. Ernakulam to kollam people are prefering mail. so it have concentrated halt pattern here. Hope Ananthu speeds up furthur after TVC NCJ doubling and arrives kollam before mail. so that kollam preference also might goto ananthapuri and kollam mail. so that it can be cochin mail forever.

Well when there are two trains, namely MAS TVC SF exp and SF Mail, can't they adopt an alternative stoppage? Say one stops in Chengannur the other can skip it and stop in Changanassery. We can save considerable amount of time like this. Does every train need to stop for every 10 kms? There is a high need of an MPS increase in Kerala especially the south. I know the route has a lot of curves and 80 can be the max speed but I do believe significant amount of speedup can be done provided frequent halts are removed. I strongly believe ERN TVC can be done with 3.5 hours if this frequent halts are removed and a little MPS upgrades are done.

if both trains are back to back what u saying will be correct. For example: Blue mountain and Cheran can equally split the stops as they are almost back to back. Yercaud present for intermediate beyond ED. Here the caterance and timing difference is too much. so kind of early arrival and late arrival so it will be very tough to reduce the stoppages. What u said can be applied with TBM NCJ SF and Ananthu reducing halts in NCJ-MDU section and sharing loads equally once it becomes daily. Even though MAS ALLP present for ernakulam I dont think load split will work for 12695/6 & 12623/4 as their caterance is totally difference. On the case of TBM KCVL regularised to daily (alternatively TBM SCT can be made daily and extended to KCVL) and MS kollam mail extended to KCVL what u said can be done between VPT and KCVL....

as pothigai there till SCT taking load for chennai. Kerala is highly urbanised than TN and fall in single line compared to branching in TN. so without having proper MEMU i dont think reducing stoppages will be possible.

Then they should leave the frequent halting patterns to MEMU trains and let Express trains run like Express trains. While long distance trains can have this pattern, it doesn't make sense to have both trains running in the same route end to end have similar halts. MAS TVC SF already has more halts in TN so a decrease in halts for that or TVC Mail should be implemented in my opinion.

I am sorry I cant understand what you try to meant by the line MAS TVC SF already have more halts in TN. It is the only balanced kind of halt pattern compared to very unbalanced stoppage pattern of mail. How any one can justify Ananthapuri stopping pattern with halts at paravur, varkala, neyyatinkara skipping Ariyalur, Manaparai? I want to hear from you what would be the ideal halt pattern for express, SF, Passenger in one stretch. What need tobe the halt pattern of madurai punalur express/passenger for balanced one?.
