Still KUMBAKONAM is a way side station in the THANJAVUR-MAYILADUTHURAI BG non-electrified section under Trichy Division in the Tamilnadu.Not Junction.
As part of Mahamaham festival, Rlys should introduce trains from Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Shimoga, Trivandrum, Ernakulam, Hyderabad, Tirupathi, Vijayawada and Vizag to this area. Trains can terminate at Mayiladuthurai, or Karaikal or Thanjavur touching Kumbakonam enroute.
