Rameswaram is one of the chardham places.
Temple is 1.5 Kms away from the Railway station.
Autos do not go to the eastern entrance.
Fresh yourself and have a dip in agni theertham , the sea near the temple.

A Local Pandit took ₹500 from us for 4 people for bath in 22 Theertham's !
That is just a little 2 much. Moreover if u take this Rs.25 ticket , it would be like sharing one bucket with 3 piligrims. Moreover people in group have preference over others. They will get a bucket/head. Moreover , Pandits do not do this activity. It is just some other ppl who come from nearby areas like Ramnad , Paramakkudi and Mandapam.
Other than the Rameswaram Temple and Agnitheertham(Sea near the temple), other must watch places which should not be missed are
1. Pamban Bridge
From Rameswaram Temple, catch Bus No 1 which goes to Bus stand. From there you can get into bus going to mainland. Buses will be stopping at entrance of brdige, from where we can walk through road bridge. Check the NTES and plan accodingly to see the trains.

Rameswaram is a terminal station in the south-east part of tamilnadu.It is one among the char-dham.Rameswaram temple is located very near to the station.It is just 15 mins walkable.But auto Walla May charge more money from pilgrims/tourists who are new to RMM.So please be aware of the distance n amount from station to temple.Max of 50 rupees oly it wil charge but not more than that.Similarly from temple to Rameswaram bus stand lot of local buses available which is 5 rupees ticket per head.But auto Walla may charge from rs 150 to 200 from temple to bus stand.So pilgrims n tourists pls be aware of all these things.Have a nice trip @ RMM.

Correct but arrival and departure at this station is not upto the mark. IR should plan for more direct trains to RMM and try to reduce the journey time from North India. Currently minimum 45-50 hours are required from NDLS to RMM via MSN and if you go via MAS then there is a lot of buffer time.
