Sri A.K.Rastogi, Divisional Railway Manager, Madurai, Sri M.Satheesh, Principal Chief Engineer, Southern Railway, Chennai , Sri Lalloo Singh, Chief Bridge Engineer, Southern Railway, Chennai monitored the restoration work on the damaged Pamban Rail bridge undertook by a team of engineers from Madurai and Chennai divisions. After restoration, a Light engine and a rake train were operated in the Pamban bridge between Mandapam and Pamban and found the track and bridge fit.
Hence, normal train service during day time over Mandapam and Rameswaram section will be resumed from 20.01.2013.
Because of the presence of the tug ship near the Pamban bridge, the night train services over Pamban bridge and Mandapam- Rameswaram section are suspended on 20.01.13 and 21.01.13.
Due to this, the following night train services are fully / partially cancelled.
Partially cancelled trains
T.No. 16713 Chennai Egmore- Rameswaram express leaving Chennai Egmore on 19.01.13 and 20.01.13 and arriving Rameswaram on 20.01.13 and 21.01.13 will be short terminated at Mandapam and partially cancelled between Mandapam and Rameswaram.
T.No. 16714 Rameswaram- Chennai Egmore express leaving Rameswaram on 20.01.13 and 21.01.13 will be operated from Mandapam and partially cancelled between Rameswaram and Mandapam.
