Announced as Sealdah-Chhapra Bi-weekly Express in rail budget February 1989. Started on 1st May 1989 (refer two parts of page 73 in attached screenshot) . Proposed to extend till Gorakhpur in 1995, but rerouted to Darbhanga & named Gangasagar Exprsss after 1995 & further extended to Jaynagar after Gauge Conversion. click here
