Timings need revision in the extended portion. SMET to SMVB takes just 5 hours, but onward it takes more than 6 hours.
From Chennai side, it arrives at KJM at 0440, but after 80 minutes it leaves SMVB. It should leave SMVB by 0520 to reach TK by 0645 and reach SMET by 1045 -1100.

It is only a weekly train and timing is set 600 at SMVT to avoid clash with Vande Bharat and Jan Shatabdi.

irifan2015~ 2468 blog postsGood move for south interior Karnataka. This may be the first SR train passing through interior Karnataka (beyond Bangalore). Timings should be made aggressive. Should be 11 hours end to end journey will be beneficial.
Though some feel that a connection to SSPN is lost, I request them to get 4 days a week NCJ CSMT via KJM which was lost (now running via KPD PAK) after covid.

Will this train go to SBC and take reversal, or it will be rerouted via SMVT ?

You might be correct.
If this extension is true and if this train still goes to SBC with a loco reversal it will be have to cross 3 stations both sides (BYPL, BNCE and BNC) as it is currently but the only difference is from BYPL to join BAW it has to go via BAND which could take lot of time so it might a better option to route it via YPR with LR or KJM-SMVB-BAW (by passing YPR) of course with a cost of SBC.

Reversal at SBC is not possible it will divert with stoppage at SMVT. Let's wait for official TT in Benguluru how it will be extended.

Now, it's time to make it bi-weekly. Already MAS-SBC is packed. Now, there will be more response till SMET from SBC and MAS. It will be a sure-shot hit, even if they make this as a daily express.
There is some sizeable no of tamil population in Shivamogga-Bhadravati region. This train is for them for end to end travel or TN region. Presently they need to change over at Blore.
A very gud news esp shimoga area which was unconnected with mgr
This is a useful diversion and better use of resources overall (better train for Shimoga than the special via Ballari) while there still remains one live connection between Chennai and Puttaparthi by 22601/02.
But I would be very concerned that this could set the wrong precedent where trains get diverted from their original route due to political pressure. No complaints had they done this after giving a new train for MAS-SSPN along an alternate route via PAK, DMM.

It's bad extension, extension means it should run via that station. By skipping that station diverting the train is not extension. It is cancellation of that train - Dude.
This extension looks like "taking food from ones mouth and enjoying". If they want they should ask new train & implement new train, not taking another station train.
