Few updates from my recent trip in 12779 on 13.04.2023.
1. 12779 CC is exactly reversed by SWR except the 2 parcel vans.
2. Spotted 8 brand new LHB coaches consisting of 6 GS and 2 3ACE coaches most probably for Goa express at Kalem.
3. SVM to Kalem FEDL updates Total 10 kms. SVM outers ground works going on at good pace and...
more... the bridge outside SVM ready too, ground works at good progress for around 1km, further around 2 kms no works done most probably some land issue, then for around 7kms double line fully laid till Kalem. Regarding electrification the existing line is electrified and on the new line poles are laid. If the work on the middle 2 kms start immediately now the section can be doubled in next 6 months.
4. Kalem to Kulem existing single line already electrified and doubling works have just begun from Kulem railway station.
5. Kulem to Castle Rock no doubling work, but electric poles have been or are being put up at all places except the tunnels.
6. Castle Rock to Tinaighat doubling update: from CLR for around 30% of the section no work but for remaining around 70% ground fully levelled now ballast laying to commence. Electric poles have but put up besides the area levelled for double line. At CLR I think only the mainline is under wires (not fully sure) but other tracks only poles have been put up wiring still left.
7. LD to Kudachi if fully doubled now and Kudachi to Vijaynagar doubling almost done can be commissioned in next 2 to 3 months. could not notice electrification coz of darkness but poles are definitely there entire route could not or did not see the wiring though.
8. Vijaynagar to MRJ doubling going at slower pace compared to Kudachi Vijaynagar. My trip ended at MRJ.
