The minister also stated that the Railways has added 4,000 extra trains and increased track capacity in the last few years. The focus is on adding new trains and expanding tracks. In the past year, 5,300 km of new track has been built, with an additional 40,000 km under construction. Safety is also a priority for the Railways. For the Diwali and Chhath festivals, general coaches in 108 trains have been increased, and 12,500 sleeper coaches have been allocated. An additional 5,975 trains will operate during 2024-25, facilitating the return of 10 million people during the festive season.
