Over 20,000 passenger tickets are expected to be canceled due to these changes. However, the Railway has issued this information two months in advance to avoid bookings on these trains. Specific changes include the Kashi Vishwanath Express (15127-28) running only twice a week until March 2024, the Kathgodam-Delhi Express (15036-35) operating three days a week, the Ramnagar-Moradabad-Ramnagar Express (25036-35) operating three days a week, the Lalgarh-Dibrugarh Avadh Assam Express (15909-10) running only once a week, and the Janta Express (15119-20) canceled for three days a week from December to February 2024.

The construction of the washing pit will facilitate the operation of long-distance trains from Purnea Court, increasing passenger convenience and revenue for the Railways. Currently, Purnea has two express trains, the 13205/06 Janhit and 14617/18 Jansadharan Express. Due to lack of maintenance facilities, the Janhit Express operates five days a week instead of daily. Despite this, the Purnea Court station has seen a 582% increase in revenue during the first quarter of 2024-25, generating 6,11,88,874 rupees compared to 89,69,309 rupees in the previous year. This surge in revenue is attributed to the addition of the two express trains. The increase in revenue has also been observed at other major stations in the Purnea-Saharsa region, such as Banmankhi, Murliganj, and Daurm Madhepura. Being the second-largest city in the region after Patna and the last station of the ECR/SPJ division, Purnea, an Aspirational District, faces significant development challenges. The city has long been in need of improved railway connectivity.
