last year i was returning from kumbakonam to chennai egmore by cholan express. as my house was inbetween chengalpattu and tambaram, i deboarded myself at chengalpattu and took an emu train [2 tier ac ticket and so i boarded first class emu compartment]. the ticket i had was an eticket.
tte told me inbetween that only regular ticket [printed ticket by railways] can only use this option in emu. eticket holders are not entitled to travel by emu with this ticket. however he had not put fine. just cautioned me. may be i am travelling with family and luggage

Never heard of such nonsense. SR TTEs are (in)famous for formulating their own rules & enforcing them in situations where no rules have been stipulated.
