Should side lower berths be kept entirely for RAC passengers instead of alloting a SLB for a passenger with confirmed ticket given that 2 passengers each pay full fare for the berth thereby giving twice the money for a single berth? Mention the reason in the blog.

Yr vese hi lower birth nahin bachi hain, jo bachi hain vo bhi khatm kara do. Maine 3 passenger ka ticket karaya aaj... 25 age vaale ko SL mila, 53 age female ko MB aur 73 yr female ko UB.
Kya sochke seat distribution ho raha hai pata nahin... Agar 73 female ka akele ticket karata to lower mil jati pr pichli baar esa karne pe 7 coach aage baki seat mili thi...
Aur ye haal tab hai jb 98 seat khali thin... 98 khali seat me bhi ek bhi general lower birth...

Automatic hai seat allocation. Age ke hisaab se nahi hota hai. Mere saath bhi hua hai kayi baar.
Not all SLB's should be for RAC passengers. The concept of RAC need not be removed, but a few coaches should be marked for RAC allotment and short distance passengers, in long distance trains to avoid discomfort to the long distance passengers. For overnight trains, an extra coach should be preferred for the high rush periods while a maximum cap of 2 or 3 SLB's per coach for RAC can be kept in normal times.
I agree, both side berths be given to RAC only. bUt as long as the tickets are on RAC, only sitting charges be charged.
Mai yahi kehna chah rha hu ki normal tickets me bhi kuch priority based system honi chaiye... Atleast 60 above ko to lower milni chaiye...
