Should side lower berths be kept entirely for RAC passengers instead of alloting a SLB for a passenger with confirmed ticket given that 2 passengers each pay full fare for the berth thereby giving twice the money for a single berth? Mention the reason in the blog.

Not all SLB's should be for RAC passengers. The concept of RAC need not be removed, but a few coaches should be marked for RAC allotment and short distance passengers, in long distance trains to avoid discomfort to the long distance passengers. For overnight trains, an extra coach should be preferred for the high rush periods while a maximum cap of 2 or 3 SLB's per coach for RAC can be kept in normal times.
