Need some healthy discussion on this "1 State/Region 1 Zone" policy. Consider the following:
State Name = Zone Allocation
Maharashtra = CR
Karnataka = SWR
Goa, Coastal Karnataka,Kerala= KR

Kerala state is less in area and i wish all the coastal area below Mumbai till Kanyakumari should be provided under 1 zone.
SWR should include karwar, udupi, gulbarga, bidar. Konkan railway should be bifurcated to form mangalore and ratnagiri division. Mangalore division should be brought under SWR n ratnagiri under CR. Konkan railway is partial towards coastal Karnataka and new trains,special are started considering MAO.
Yes , no special trains are operated beyond MAO. After a long time Ahmedabad special is back
KR have lot of dues which it spent on konkan railway line and some maintenance expenses so KR now finding some other zone to share the burden of expenses which it alone can't generate through its services even with inflation in routes km. So Any zone going to take KR should ready to pay it's dues too.. Options left to SWR CR SR to choose.. but these zones also need to agree for taking KR under them.. as they themselves not in good profit now a days..
KR can only be merged with other zone once they make profit out of the money that they invested and maintenance of KR. But its merger with other zones seems highly unlikely anytime soon because the people at helm of KR dont want to lose the power and position. So it will keep showings loses and wont merge with any other zone. I read this somewhere long back.Please correct me if i am wrong.
