express fare is just Rs 41 which half of the express bus fare.
Railways can do few things here;
1. Increase capacity
2. Introduce few more services especially limited stops. People will not mind a super fast service as well.
3. reduce the tavel time by increasing the average speed.
4. Most important thing - speed up and complete the track doubling work.

We have heard of bus lobby and Hotel lobby working against railways.
But in this case, it is the''MADDUR VADA SELLERS ASSOCIATION'' lobby that is at work . :)
If the travel time is reduced, it means fewer no of stops/crossings which implies fewer no of vadas that would be sold. :P

train buys 8-10 vadas on avg. On an express which takes 3 hrs it comes down to 6-7.
On superfast trains like TIPPU its around 4 and in Shatabdi one cant even smell it.
So a strong case for their opposition. :)
