The train has run with an average occupancy of 80-85 percent since it began operations on October 5, the sources said.

Its operational profit not overall. It takes more than 1.5 years to get the cost of the coaches it self
NDLS-CNB/LKO route has many premium & superfast trains already, with adequate quota between these cities..Tejas is the most expensive among all, but still managed to show 85% occupancy & decent operational profit..This shows that the travelers will always prefer quality service & assured ontime performance..
This is 1st month Sir.....wait for 1 year you will see the reality....many passengers are now traveling once just to get the feel , just to click photos with this train.......reality will come out after 1 year after this craze goes out from passengers.
In majority of cases Indian railways don't even register any operational profit either and that's not limited to normal mail/express trains, many premium trains including some Rajdhanis run in heavy losses. It's a good start for tejas.
Festive season has also contributed to its success but still it's a good start.
