Travelled on 12649 on 2AC after electrification of Bengaluru-Hubballi line, here are my observations.
WAG9-HC link b/w YPR and UBL means that the train crawls at a mere 90 kmph on the 110 kmph-supported track. My train was delayed at UBL by some 1.5 hrs.

Rerouting to support bus lobby between ypr-kcg. They have instilled some local sentiment to divert this
Ya, it was fastest non premium connection b/w Delhi & Bengaluru, but now no more.
May be to optimize the occupancy of SBC Rajdhani Express they did this and the zonal HQ officers got fastest connectivity with Delhi (along with weekly ubl Nzm SF)
When UBL Londa slip portion of Goa Express got cancelled to compensate the loss this KSK was diverted via UBL
But to cater the demands of zonal hq they disturbed the equations of Bengaluru connectivity with capital. Definitely, somewhere the tendency to earn premium fare through Rajdhani would have played in the minds of SWR officials under the guise of providing Ypr - bay section stations connectivity with national capital.
