Asansol or New Jalpaiguri are the best alternative candidates. They are the next largest cities and SK concept dictates that either the capital or one of the most important cities in the state should serve as originating point for a SK service. However given their location, a WBSK from ASN/NJP wouldn't have served WB in the first place.
That's why running from SDAH was probably the best decision, and infact this train's frequency deserves to be increased. The SDAH - ASR can be moved to a seperate slot or re-routed via BSB-LKO-SRP.

Why would a train originating from North Bengal be forced to run via Suiri ?
Connectivity aside this train would cause more problems than alleviate them.
A faster route via KIR,BJU,PPTA is already available.

As it's a Sampark Kranti, it should cover whole state in a shortest way. Look at Sampark Krantis of South , they are covering many cities & have more than 5 halts in their home state.
You have to understand something. Kolkata dwarfs, absolutely dwarfs any other city when it comes to population. This happens in states with Metro cities. Running WBSK from SDAH was the best decision and it coincidentally serves three of the most populous cities in WB other than KOAA, namely BWN,DGR and ASN.

A parasite 🦠 is what I call ADRA division, surviving on the revenue of BKSC. Most of its revenue comes from freight to which BKSC contributes the highest and still the station building of ADRA is getting completed first . Why ??? I don’t need to even explain this Amrit Bharat scam being run by ADRA.

That is why extensions are such a sham and so detrimental to the original station in the first place. BKSC is allocated PQWL in 13351 that was it's own train once.
RNC Division has cut off BKSC from several of it's train inspite of the fact that both lie in SER, because the divisional changeover is there. MURI lies in RNC Division and leaps the benefits of GNWL there.
Similarly ASN is now facing the RLWL axe on several trains originating from KOAA side.

Yes adding a extra RORO service at the Khana link cabin to the UP slow line in the BWN-ASN section, would definitely bolster connectivity with Shantiniketan area with the Shipanchal area.
Another thing that has to be done ASAP is the alternate DC line being built quickly so that the train services between DHN & RNC can be seamless and increased in load. The existing line is on it's last leg and more and more services are being introduced on this line.

New alignment for the DC line should be the top most priority of RB.
For the new DC line, bypass at GMO is being considered. But the main bottleneck is the river bridge near CRP, which slows trains down considerably.
RNG halt for RPH-ASN trains needed DGR passengers will get access.
That is a long way from now, let the line get completed and commissioned first !
