I have booked a ticket from Chennai Egmore to Trichy junction with boarding point as tambaram. I have boarded the train at Chennai Egmore. TTE objected stating that Boarding can only be done at Tambaram and he will charge different fare. I argued that already full fare is paid and Boarding point is only my option. Pls confirm whether I or TTE is correct

Dheleep bhai, your explanation is incorrect.
Point of Boarding intimation exists to inform TTE in advance that passenger will be boarding later - so do no allot the seat to anyone else (assuming ticket checking starts quite early). It is a precaution, not a way for railways to make more money.
As per Railway rules (click here point of boarding can be changed once by written intimation 24 hours in advance - so Railways definitely cannot allot the pre-BP seat to anyone else (because if they did they would be in a...
