TRACK BALLASTING : Indian Railways STYLE
.
Catch the Exclusive Video of the newly laid Track being Ballasted .
These new tracks are yet to undergo trial runs hence a Special Truck
...
carrying the Ballast with customized Wheels to work on the Rail Roads help lay the Ballast.
.
Also catch the exclusive footage from where the Ballast is obtained.
The huge boulders are broken down with the help of special machinery from the hills and are carried in small trucks and thrown down to the ground. From there the large stones are further broken down into smaller pieces and are transported by trucks to a near by Rail Road. There on the ballast is transported through a Freight wagon to the desired Railway lines if already a Rail Connectivity Exists else the trucks will bring them to the required spot.
.
There is a special Freight Wagon known as BOBYN , a Open hopper car with side-bottom discharge, for carrying stone, track ballast, etc. These are air-braked and are operational only on tracks that are commissioned by the Rail Safety team.
.
Location : Yelahanka, South Western Railways.
Project : Yelahanka - Channasandra Doubling ( Presently Single line Operation)

AFAIK,CRS commision is required to declare the rail road safe for passenger & commercial freight transportation.A loco rolls out in the track much before the CRS approval...just think it in a way that suppose the track is not safe & if loco or bobyn's derail there wont be any commercial/human life loss.anyhow in non-operational tracks even if loco rolls out speed wont be more than 15-20 kmph.

In ABFC-BLK doubling also before placing the sleepers, ballast were unloaded from dumpers and trucks and then sleepers were laid....... but after laying the tracks BOBYN rake lay the ballast,,,,,,,,, same happened in FKM-DBB section GC too....
if a loco can be used to do trial run on a track which has been recovered from a washout in northbank lines.... then why not a BOBYN can ply on a semi-ballasted trck??
