does loco pilot just depend on the signalling system to run the train or do they have an elaborate TT with them handy when piloting the train ?

There are many conditions/reasons, where the crew has to decide quickly depending on the situations.
Sometimes, if there is a danger ahead, like, some vehicle, or herd of animals, or track disruption, etc, the crew will inform to guard, then to nearest tower, n then will slam the brakes.

I felt while traveling by 12357 Exp that my train was over speeding between DOS and MGS just to make up lost time and reach MGS on time. Was my train really over speeding or was my coach too old to handle the speed and was shaking vigorously ? I have heard that DOS-MGS Section comes under the insurgency prone Chakranbanda Forest Belt of Rohtas District in Bihar State. LPs should exercise some restraint on their train speed on this section but being triple track and night time... it gives SF Train LPs a high... what say ? :-p
i remember as a child i used to sit by window during night time n neelanchal exp used to blast between bsb n gomoh ...d same section ur talking about...
I think that Sealdah - Katra Premium Weekly Express will also do the same thing on Grand Chord Route but if it's rake is LHB then we passengers might not feel the jerks ;-)
Coaches do vibrate n shake at higher speed. there is a tolerance limit when the coach is designed.
Of course, after 110, a coach has to fall, as per some people, but it doesn't.
The coaches are designed to handle high speeds, but IR has its own rules.
SF/Exp, do charge at the given speed.
