for telescopic fare should both the journey legs be in the same class ??

Its like you pretty much end up paying fare as that of higher class of travel opted if you had opted for a thru ticket...Also as DB ji said there have been differences in how its being calculated in different cases.
no, it can in different classes. but in most of the cases, the telescopic fare has been charged for the highest class of travel. No discounting was done in total fare for any leg of journey in a lower class.
then pretty much no use having different classes if higher class fare charged and no fixed rules on it ...
can a telescopic ticket be booked when the intermediate stations are different for ex ..NGP - NZM & NDLS to JAT ?...the tkt would be NGP to JAT reserved upto NZM ?..is it possible ?
