26 Years!!
Its not only me who turns 26 today, but i love share a moment with India's rarest n powerful locos.

26th anniversary, though these have arrived on unknown dates ranging from October 1988 to December 1988.
The snaps were taken by me:
1:- WAG-6B MUED, shot taken at Simhachalam North, accompanied by my close friend n IRFCA Veteran Jyothish Kd, dated Jan 2014.
2:- WAG-6A twins, shot taken at Simhachalam North, accompanied with Amarnadh, close friend n also the silent Admin of IRI, back in 2012, on the special Mission WAG-6 Hunt.
When they arrived, the babies aka WAP-5/WAG-9 were still under production back in Adtranz.
Til 97's, they have topped IR with the highest horse power, but soon the descendants took over, but these hunks did their work silently, faced lot of issues, as IR wasn't ready to handle a technology which is much advanced in those periods.
Only 15 of them are active, n still work silently in the hearts of Dandakarnya Forest region.
Happy 26 Yrs, Long live Fellas!!

These were actually imported for heavy haul in the gradients.
There are BO-BO-BO, CO-CO-CO n normal BO-BO n also CO-CO types.
IR wasn't even in position to learn about the advanced technology n hence had to leave it to the Waltair based engineers who had faced quite a time to understand the alien technology.

This model actually exists in Meter Gauge locos in South Africa n existed in fewer parts back in Sweden n other European nations, under Standard Gauge.
WAG-6's were solely designed for Broad Gauge, specially for Indian Railways, with a very powerful tractive effort n perfect power output.

Yes, these outnumer WDG-4 class in terms of output n also effort, but the WAG-9 n the WDG-5 are powerful than these.
the era of WAG-6 is coming to an end soon.
