The Eastern Railway has temporarily suspended the Dhanbad-Howrah AC Double-decker Express (both Up and Down) from January 26 to March 1 due to heavy losses because of low occupancy rate, triggering fears among passengers that the train will be withdrawn for good.The train has been temporarily suspended due to huge losses incurred by the railways.
Less than 70 passengers take the train, which has a seating capacity of 640.
The losses, thereby, come to around Rs 11 lakh every day, sources said.

Extend upto Ranchi or Gaya.
Then it will be grand success. Also, it will give good connecttivity than Dhanbad. There are many trains between DHN & HWH.
Extending upto Gaya or Ranchi will give better connectivity between Howrah to Ranchi or Gaya.

*My suggestion would be to extend the train upto BKSC and run via TATA, and change the time table to depart it in morning from BKSC.
Currently there is no dedicated train between BKSC-HWH in morning except a tri-weekly intercity. BKSC is the 4th largest city after RNC, TATA and DHN and all of them have dedicated trains.
This way BKSC will be linked with TATA, KGP and HWH with Intercity type service which is the need of the hour.

Extension upto Gaya ?Will not the tunnels and gradients pose problems for DD to run ?? Same case with Ranchi.
not possible due to gurpa-gajhandi tunnels on dhn-gaya section.............same problem with ranchi.

Instead of 12363/4 this DD can easily be operated with change in timings for which I requested (with reverse timings of NJP HWH NJP Shatabdi) in my wish list to the RM for the Rail Budget 2015-16 ( /NEXT/NEXT/NEXT/1339196/0/2015newtrain.pdf ). And I am sure with this DD the availability of tickets in each and every train in between NJP & Kolkata will be easy.
