Instead of spending cores of rupees etc on feasibility studies etc, i think railways should start thinking of converting all non superfast express/mail trains to average speed of 50km/hr.The schedules can be tweaked,stoppages reduced and maybe also reduce slack.
There are so many trains whose timings were formulated based on their run in single line. Even after doubling the time remains the same.
