These trip sheds are used when some long route train coming from another railway zone having loco of another shed is housed. Also is the case when the loco shed has locos to its full capacity, a trip shed is used. As for why trip sheds are present in HWH and SRC - not all trains originating or terminating or going through these stations have loco of HWH or SRC. The railways must have separated these sheds on account of maintaining their records, or some kind of preference. I think.
